Here are some of the frequently asked questions
Q. Do I have to have a gun to take a class?
No, you can rent a firearm to use. This is a good idea. It gives you the opportunity to try different guns and see how they fit in your hand, and you get to feel how they shoot. Different guns have different attributes. You should not buy a gun because someone else tells you it's good.
Q. Who is the main audience of these classes?
The class is open to everyone, but they are often organized by all-women groups, couples, church and university students. The class is geared to people not having time to attend multiple classes to obtain their permit to carry, but can commit to a single day class.
Q. How do I begin the process?
Send us an email or call us. After you reserve a date, we will advise you of any logistical items that you need to be aware of. Participants will have to drive to a nearby shooting range, so participants must provide their own transport to the range and back to the location where the class is held.
Q. How do I transport my gun to the class?
If you bring yours, it must be in a case and unloaded. No guns or ammo is allowed in the class.
Q. Where is the range location?
The range portion of the class is held at different range locations depending on class location. Range location will be given before class. Directions to the range will be given in class. Students will have to provide their own transportation between the classroom and range; carpooling is recommended.
Range Rules:
Before going to the range, students will receive instruction on the proper technique for using a handgun in the classroom with a training gun. At the range, each student will begin their live fire experience with one-on-one instruction from one of Armed2Defend's range officers. The course is designed to meet all levels of experience from beginner to more advanced. Even if you have never held a handgun before, you should be confident that VetsElite will provide quality training to get you confidently shooting safely and accurately.
No handguns are to be removed from cases/bags until instructed to do so.
Safety is the primary focus in any live fire exercise; therefore any unsafe behavior and/or breaking of the range rules will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the range and the class without a refund.
Q. Do I have to get a CPL permit?
No, many people come for the knowledge, skills and attitude gained through the hands on experience gained from the class. This training is valuable if you are thinking about purchasing a firearm but don't know where to begin. It will help define your needs and requirements through actual handling experience of several handguns.
